Paranoid Micky: We didn't deliver

Port Vale manager Micky Adams admitted post-match that his side just weren't up to it but says 0-0 would have been a fair result.

It was a controversial Shaun Miller penalty that separated the two sides on the day as referee Chris Sarginson pointed to the spot after Vale defender Gareth Owen brought down Clayton Donaldson - Vale saying he won the ball first.

Adams told BBC Radio Stoke after the match his view on the penalty incident but seemed ever so slightly paranoid about the match officials.

'I'm not saying we did enough to win the game but we certainly didn't deserve to lose to a penalty that is just so unjust it's not true.

'I said [to the referee] 'it was a major decision in a local derby and you got it wrong.''

'You have to be very careful what you say to referees. What they do is they gang up in there, they get the assessor in and they concoct some sort of story that Micky Adams has used foul and abusive language.

'I felt we had players that went missing today and didn't perform. It was a big game for us and we didn't deliver. Some of our bigger players, who we needed to perform, haven't shown today'

'It had 0-0 written all over it but the referee's decision changed all that.'
