Rodgers Just Called To Say...

Luke Rodgers called Dario following the fiery match at home to Notts County on Saturday in order to repair relations.

Rodgers was sent off along with Ashley Westwood following a spat between the two. Despite Rodgers doing the provoking his red card was rescinded yesterday by the FA whilst Westwood will sit out the next three matches through suspension.

Needless to go into the ins and outs of Saturday's action once more, it seems like Dario has spent more time sticking up for the former Alex striker than backing his own players recently (ahem, Carl Martin).

After revealing details about his chat with Rodgers pre-match on Saturday Dario this week revealed that the 28 year old striker rang him on Saturday evening to end the weekend on good terms.

Having managed Rodgers for 18 months before his £30k move to Port Vale in January 2007, Dario knows the striker's temperament all too well. He came to the club with a rather sticky record both on and off the pitch but, surprisingly, spent his entire time at Gresty Road without so much as a book.

Indeed, Dario says he's never personally had any trouble with Rodgers and told CreweAlex.net that whilst he brings a lot of the negative attention on himself he can redeem himself.

"He may have had a previous record off the pitch when we signed him but at our club he was fine and his behaviour was impeccable.

'The way he behaved at the end when he provoked Ashley was uncalled for and you do lose a bit of respect for him when he does things like that, but he regained it when he rang me up in the evening.

'He didn't go as far to apologise for what had happened but we had a good chat about things and ended on good terms. That was pleasing.'
