Connerton Delighted To Be Here

New signing Jordan Connerton says he wants to be the next big thing out of Crewe and follow in the footsteps of players like Luke Varney.

Connerton signed on a three year contract yesterday afternoon after Crewe struck a deal worth up to £30,000 to bring the young striker to Gresty Road. Having scored 34 goals in 45 matches he's one of the hottest prospects from the non-league.

He has remained at Lancaster, his local club, on loan for the remainder of the season in order to help them complete their promotion push. However he will ready and raring to go for the Alex come pre-season.

Speaking to CreweAlex.net Connerton said he's delighted to finally sign a professional contract and hopes he can emulate others who have gone on from Crewe to the bigger stage.

'I am delighted to have made it into the league because you do sometimes think that the chance has passed you by. I was supposed to go up to Motherwell when Jim Gannon was manager but then he left the club and that fell through.

'I just cannot wait to get cracking really because I know what Crewe is all about and how they can help young players. I just want to be the next name on their list of players who have come through from non-league.

'I am looking forward to the challenge and cannot wait.'
