Gardner Signs Deal At Gresty Road

As first revealed on the Vital Crewe message board, trialist Danny Gardner has signed a deal with the club till the end of the season. The deal comes with the chance to win a futher contract come the end of the season.

The former Celtic striker has spent the last month on trial with the club, playing in the reserve side. The 19 year old had already had a trial at Oldham Athletic and but came to Reaseheath after tip off from Dario's former assistant Neil Baker.

Since his release from Celtic Gardner has spent time at non-league side Flixton but the Manchester club never tied the youngster down to a contract in order to help him climb back up the leagues.

In his first outing for the Alex reserve side he scored the winner against Birmingham's second string.

Gardner becomes just the second permanent arrival at Gresty Road since Dario took the reigns again. Carl Martin signed for a nominal fee from Wealdstone in October, signalling that Dario sees the future in young, upcoming non-league stars.

Vital Crewe would like to welcome Gardner to the club.
