Bopp Linked With Plymouth Move

After his move to Premiership side Portsmouth was scuppered by the FA, former Alex reserve star Eugen Bopp is hoping to secure a deal with Plymouth.

According to Plymouth newspaper 'The Herald', Bopp has spent time training with the Pilgrims recently with manager Paul Mariner impressed with what he's seen in the Ukrainian.

Bopp is currently without a club after agreeing to the termination of his contract last summer. Having signed under Steve Holland's leadership in 2007 he went on to make just 11 starts for the Alex, rarely impressing, becoming a highly paid flop.

It's a shame that, despite two years with the club, his outstanding Crewe Alex moment will always be a goal his scored for Nottingham Forest in 2005. The one that kept us in the Championship for another season.

Despite his good footballing background, having come through the Bayern Munich and Nottingham Forest youth systems, it was a surprise to say the least when Portsmouth not only offered the 26 year old a contract but also a permanent deal. It was only through the transfer embargo slapped on Pompey back in October that the deal fell through.

It seems that getting the boot from Crewe Alexandra is more of a blessing these days. What next? Gudjon Thordarson head hunted as Sir Alex Ferguson's successor?
