Former Alex keeper Steve Collis has signed a six month deal with Championship side Bristol City. The move comes after a recent trial the 29 year old had with the club.
The Alex released Collis just before Christmas after he dropped to third choice at Gresty Road behind young Adam Legzdins and former Bristol City number one Steve Phillips.
His final game came in the nightmare 5-3 defeat at Accrington Stanley. With Steve Phillips' arrival in November, Collis and the club came to an agreement over the final six months of his contract at the end of December, leaving the 29 year old free to find a new club.
It's expected that Collis will now be named on the bench for the Robins' game against Cardiff City on Tuesday evening.
Speaking of the signing Bristol City manager Gary Johnson says that Collis's time with Crewe doesn't reflect his true ability, adding that personal disagreements got in the way:
i>
He wasn't No.3 goalkeeper at Crewe, he had a disagreement with them when cutbacks meant they had to go without a goalkeeping coach. That wasn't going to help his game so he looked to move on.'
