Billy Jones On Verge Of Dag & Red Move

Billy Jones is set to depart Gresty Road for Dagenham and Redbridge according to reports.

Radio Stoke report that Dag & Red have matched the valuation for the former Alex captain and a deal could be completed some time this week.

Billy has already made clear his intentions to leave the Alex in 2010 with his contract up in the summer. Despite being named captain in the summer under Gudjon Thordarson's reign the former Exeter left back has been left out in the cold since Dario returned to the top job, making just one appearance since the beginning of October.

After starting his career at Leyton Orient with over 70 appearances, former manager Steve Holland signed Jones from then Conference side Exeter City in a deal worth in excess of £65,000.

Jones made the left back spot his own over the course of the last couple of seasons with his best spell undoubtedly coming towards the end of last season where he scored 5 goals in 6 games, kick starting our attempt to remain in League One.

In November Jones confirmed that he would be looking for a move away from the club in the summer whilst Dario responded by placing the 26 year old on the transfer list.
