Torquay Match Is Called Off

Todays match between Crewe Alexandra and Torquay United is called off due to a frozen pitch.

Despite covers on the pitch over the past couple of nights the temperatures were too severe for the match to go ahead.

A pitch inspection by the match official just before mid day saw the match postponed.

You would have thought we would have learnt our lesson last year wouldn't you? I said this morning that there was no way that the area beneath the main stand would be playable, cover or not, as tempeartures have dropped to well below zero for the last two nights, but it appears nobody bothered to stick a fork in the ground to check prior to the ref arriving. We are once against a laughing stock and hated by another set of fans who've made, or at least set off, on the long journey north - and the cover............ a waste of money, when will we istall underground heating or take proper steps to cancel these games at the earliest opportunity, like every other team in League 2 with a frozen pitch did early this morning. Dario recently praised our training faclities that allow us to train no matter what the weather, what a pity some of that money was not spent on the main pitch installing the necessary facilities to get games on.

Undersoil heating is a no go. Dario's a a big critic of it and when we had the chance to install it he refused. A little communication is cheaper and wouldn't go amiss. Seems like the club blindly expected the game to be on - not even checking the pitch under the covers this morning. Poor showing once more.
