Not Much Praise For Elding

Anthony Elding has come in for a little bit of stick from Dario Gradi having failed to make his mark in Saturday's game against Vale.

The former Leeds and Stockport striker arrived just over a year ago but has failed to live up to the hype. His 29 appearances, half of which are from the subs bench, have produced just three goals - all of which came in his first month at the club.

Saturday saw him continue his poor form after coming on 40 minutes into the game replacing the injured Calvin Zola. Despite decent all-round play it will be his second half blooper in front of goal whilst the game was tied at 1-1 that overshadows his performance.

Dario told The Sentinel that it is about what you can from Elding, saying there's not enough quality there:

'Anthony is working hard in training, but I think that is what he is.

'I don't think you can be sure he's going to hit the ball. He's having a go, he's a presence, but there's not great quality in what he does.'

Bit vicious, at least in public. Don't remember DG being this outspoken about a player before
