'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Bowler: It's A Results Business

John Bowler says that the club came to its decision last night at a board meeting. The Alex chairman had been called upon to act by fans after defeats to Accrington Stanley and Bury which saw us drop to 15th in League Two, our lowest position for 18 years.

Dario will now temporarily take over for tomorrow's match at home to Rotherham before the search for a new manager gets under way next week.

Speaking to the official website, crewealex.net, Bowler had this to say:

'The directors had a board meeting last night and it was thought that in the best interest of the club, we should part with our manager Gudjon Thordarson with immediate effect.

'Gudjon is a man I have got on very well with and have a high regard for him. The results have not been good enough and therefore we felt we had to make a change.

'It is everyone's aim at the Football Club to get back to winning ways out on the pitch and the objective is a return to League One.'

Results are important but not on their own. If we had won twice as many games he should still have gone. Style matters. Academy matters. Fair Play matters. Respect for our hard fought reputation and traditions matter. The nightmare is over, let's get back to playing football.
