'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Shocking and Embarrassing

Gudjon Thordarson spoked immediately after Saturday's shambles at Accrington Stanley, saying he was 'badly hurt' by the performance.

The Iceman failed to explain his poor team selection and tactics, instead taking his anger out on his players.

The 5-3 defeat is now ranked by many fans as the lowest point for the club in the last 25 years. At a new low it's now hard to see where the next win is coming from with Bury, Rotherham, Bradford, Vale and Notts County to come in the coming weeks.

Speaking to the official website,

'That was shocking. It was embarrassing and I won't settle for that level of performance. It was not acceptable and I am badly hurt by that performance.

'Maybe I am too nice with the players and that is the reward I get. Well they are going to be in for a shock starting tomorrow because some of them were not worthy to wear that shirt tonight.

'Some of our decision making in defence was absolutely shocking and I will have to dig deep to sort it out. I will take a step back, have a breather and assess things because it needs sorting.'

No mention of his own decision making then.

Meanwhile Accrington manager John Coleman was obviously delighted with his team's performance. The three points were never in doubt for cash-strapped Stanley and Coleman says it's now time for the rest of the division to take notice of his team.

"Crewe are a massive club and it shows how far we have come in such a short space of time that we can put them to the sword like we did.' Coleman told thisislancashire.co.uk.

"We have been banging the drum since pre-season about high expectations and we've got that here in the dressing room."
