Former Captain Questions Gudjon's Management

Former Captain Questions Gudjon's Management

Former Alex captain Dave Brammer says the club needs to get it's house in order, questioning Gudjon's decision to play loanees ahead of academy youngsters.

Brams, speaking to the BBC, believes the club is in a bit of 'turmoil' and doesn't quite know where it's going. A major gripe for the 34 year old is the lack of academy youngsters in the first team with only Byron Moore from the academy making a first team start this season.

It's been highlighted further with Gudjon choosing to play the likes of Arman Verma, on loan from Leicester City, ahead of perfectly good academy youngsters like Luke Murphy and James Bailey.

It's something, Brammer says, that could cost the club long term. Speaking to the BBC, Brammer said:

'There seems to be a split between the first team and the academy in terms of the manager not really using academy players.

'Crewe have got to be really careful and get their house in order and decide which way they go. Clubs are going to look from the outside and it's going to be easier to pinch player.

'The youngsters are going to see there's only one academy player in the first team and think 'what am I here for?'

'When you're bringing players in from Leicester and leaving your academy players out I think you've got a real problem.'

And Brammer isn't alone in his concerns, with an ever increasing number of Crewe fans voicing the same concerns on the Vital Crewe message board.
