'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Mitchel-King On The Mend

Mat Mitchel-King could return to training next week after the club find his injury isn't as bad as first feared.

It was thought King had a slipped disc following a awkward fall against Stockport in the Johnstone's Paint Trophy last week. After missing the weekend's win over Macclesfield, King underwent a scan to uncover the extent of the injury only to find it was just muscular damage.

Gudjon Thordarson is now looking to see King back in training some time next week, although a return to the first team could be a couple of weeks off.

Speaking to crewealex.net, Thordarson said:

'The positive news for us this week is that Mat's back injury is not as bad as we feared. We thought he could have suffered a slipped-disc but the scan has revealed that it is only muscular damage.'

Meanwhile youngster James Bailey is ruled out of tomorrow's clash at Shrewsbury. Despite returning to training after a groin strain Gudjon is expect to give Bails another week to catch up to match fitness.
