Walton Keen To Get Started

New boy Simon Walton is keen to get his time at Gresty Road, with the midfielder set to go straight into tomorrow evening's team against Stockport.

The Plymouth midfielder signed on loan for the rest of the season this afternoon after long term interest from the Alex. Regarded as a player too good for League Two, the signing could be an impressive one although his disciplinary record has already come into question.

The 21 year old, who has commanded 700k in transfer fees already in his short career, has earned himself a reputation having picked up four red cards and 14 yellows in just the last three seasons.

With his Plymouth career on the rocks as well, Walton is happy to get back out on the pitch and prove himself once again. Speaking to the official website, crewealex.net, Walton said:

'As soon as I got the phone call to let me know of the interest I was pretty keen to get it done to be honest. I'm just grateful to be given the chance to get out and do what I love doing best.

'I've known a few lads who have played here before, and they have spoken very highly of the place and obviously there is the reputation of the club itself, I really just can't wait to get started. I've not played any competitive games yet this season, but I'm eager to get going and ready to get stuck in straight away.'

Meanwhile, it's expected that the club will re-call youngsters Ajay Leitch-Smith and Chris Clements early from their loan spells with Icelandic side IBV. Impressive performances from the pair in Iceland could see them fast tracked to the Alex's first team in the coming weeks.
