Dario to Sign Rolling Deal

Crewe have begun talks with Dario Gradi over extending his contract. Gradi's current 10-year deal expires this summer, though there is an option in the deal for a 'roll-on'. Both Dario and the club are believed to be keen on exercising the roll-on option, which will allow his contract to roll on indefinitely. Whether or not the new contract will be on the same terms as his current one is unknown, though Gradi has recently stated that he is as enthusiastic as ever. However, nothing has been signed yet though both parties are believed to be keen for Gradi's contractual situation not to drag on.

Sir Alex Ferguson is another manager on a rolling contract. A rolling contract offers greater flexibility to both parties and circumstances are generally reviewed on a yearly basis. Should Dario decide to leave or Crewe sack Gradi, Crewe would only have to pay him one year's basic wage as a pay-off - £80k, thereby providing an advantage over a more rigid contract which would result in a higher pay-out.
