Post Match Reactions

Here are the post match reactions from Gudjon Thordarson and John Still following The Daggers 2-1 opening day win against The Alex.

Crewe Alexandra Reactions:

After a poor 2-1 home defeat for Gudjon Thordarson he spoke to official site after the game. 'We played with more fear today and were hesitating from the first whistle. We were not at it all in the first half and we gave the ball away too much. We didn't make the start to the game that we are capable of and we couldn't get going.'

'It was a blow to go into half-time a goal down - but there is not a lot you can do about a strike like that. It was a great execution and their lad took it very well.'

'I changed the formation and the shape a bit for the second half by moving Joel more into the middle because we needed him to be more lively for us. That spark only really came when Byron came on. He was lively and wanted to make things happen. He scored a really good goal to get us back into the game and then I thought we would be calm and go on from there.'

'Their second goal was a poor goal to concede from our point of view. We gave their striker far too much room in the first instance but even before that we gave possession away again. We did have a centre-back and full-back to recover and deal with it but he still managed to scramble it in.'

Dagenham & Redbridge Reaction:

Dagenham & Redbridge manager John Still was understandably the happiest manager leaveing Gresty Road. He spoke to BBC Essex after the game. 'I didn't think we would come here and play this well, but I knew that we had organisation in us, I new we had fitness in us, and I knew we had brought some decent players in.'

'They are a big strong side, get lots of balls in the box and I thought we defended them first class and our back four were outstanding.'

'One thing we have been able to do here is score goals, and we have to continue to do that.'
