Former Striker Handed Suspended Sentence

Former Crewe striker Tom Pope has been handed a 6 month jail sentence, suspended for 18 months after being charged with affray. He was also handed a 12 month supervision order and to carry out 200 hours of unpaid work and to pay £722 worth of prosecution charges.

Pope pleaded guilty to the charge after CCTV footage click here

The video showed him and two other men lead the attack. The footage also showed Pope even stand on a car to aid his attack.

Pope, who signed for Rotherham earlier this summer had been charged with affray, after an incident in a Hanley nightclub earlier this year.

He should have claimed he was acting in self defence, he would have completely gotten away with it.
