Crewe Alexandra 4-2 Hyde United

Crewe Alexandra remain unbeaten in pre-season after a 4-2 win over Conference North side Hyde United.

New loan signing Button went straight into the starting 11 for the game, a move which may prove a little disappointing with some fans after an impressive start to pre-season by Adam Legzdins. The rest of the starting 11 looks pretty steady and looks increasingly likely to be the team strolling out at Gresty Road come the 8th of August.

The first goal of the game came through The Alex's leading scorer over pre-season, Joel Grant. This was then quickly followed by a rare goal from defender Danny O'Donnell. Hyde then rallied to get two goals back before The Alex scored again through captain Billy Jones. Joel Grant then added his second of the game to secure the victory.

The win sees the Alex remain unbeaten throughout pre-season so far with wins against Newcastle Town, Wigan and Hyde and a draw at close neighbours Nantwich.

Gaffer Gudjon Thordarson remained in the stand for the game giving new assistant manager Steve Davies a chance to show his team management skills.

The next pre-season game for Crewe is against a Wolverhampton Wanderers XI next week.
