Bopp Scores Twice For Pompey
The footballing world is going slightly bonkers. If Sven having talks with Notts County and McCready having a trial at Charlton wasn't enough...
Then Eugen Bopp scoring twice for Premier League Portsmouth whilst on trial is certainly one of the more bizarre sights in Football you will see.
Given the trial by his former Nott'm Forest boss, now Portsmouth boss, Paul Hart the Ukrainian midfielder was given 45 minutes to impress against Havant and Waterlooville this evening.
Impress he did. Two goals in five second half minutes from Bopp gave Portsmouth a comfortable lead, although his mistake 10 minutes from time allow Havant to begin a fight back with the match eventually ending 2-2.
Bopp was of course released earlier this summer having had a torrid two years at the club. He signed during the Dario/Holland switch over summer and was almost immediately consigned to the reserves.
His constant injuries, unwillingness to play out of position and supposed lack of commitment meant chances were few and far between both under Steve Holland and Gudjon Thordarson, although he did manage to make an appearance in four games of Dario's caretaker stint last year.
Having seen Mark Carrington sign for MK Dons, McCready on trial at Charlton and now Bopp on trial at Portsmouth; maybe being released by Crewe is the best thing that can happen in your career?
