Captain To Be Revealed At Newcastle

The new captain of Crewe Alexandra looks set to be revealed when the side play their first friendly on Sunday.

Crewe travel to Newcastle for their first friendly of the summer and Gudjon Thordarson will announce his captain for the season before this match after revealing he has made his decision.

Following Julian Baudets move to the MLS the MLS Thordarson has had to decide on a new skipper, with Billy Jones the early favourite to get the armband.

Gudjon told the offical club site, crewealex.net 'I have already assessed the situation with the captaincy and i have sorted it. I have spoken to a couple of players and made a decision. All will be made clear at Newcastle.'

Thordarson also made it clear his captain will have a ammount of responsibility for the coming season. 'I want a leader who is going to have an influence over the dressing room. He will lead my example and help others. I have always thought that is vital and I have a huge ammount of faith in the player i have chosen to do this'
