Holland Denies Poaching

Steve Holland has said that his Stoke City academy has played completely fair as they look to sign two promising youngsters from the Alex academy.

Matthew Lund and Ben Marshall are both set to join the Stoke City academy this summer having turned down deals at Crewe.

At first it seemed like the former Alex manager was returning to poach the cream of the crop from the Alex to join the Clayheads but Holland denies that.

Instead, Holland says that Marshall and Lund both turned down deals at Reaseheath prior to contacting him about a move to Stoke. Speaking to whydelilah.co.uk, Holland said:

"I want to clarify that Ben and Matthew turned down contracts at Crewe,

"I received a phone call from both players asking if Stoke would be interested in signing them. Then I had a conversation with Dario Gradi at Crewe to inform him of the situation.'

So it seems to be that we are now paying the price for poor management at the top. Forcing Holland into a job he was never ready for, leaving us having to sack one of the countries best youth coaches.
