Davis: I can't wait to get cracking

New assistant manager Steve Davis says the team will have to knuckle down next season.

Davis arrives from Nantwich Town to replace Neil Baker as Gudjon's new assistant and is set to play a manager part in first team affairs next season.

With the team set to return to training at the end of the month, Davis revealed plans to extend the training schedule for the new season. He told The Sentinel:

A priority next season will be that our players work two sessions a day. They have got to be prepared to come back in the afternoon as that is the only way they can improve .

'I can't wait to get cracking. I know what Gudjon wants from me and the role he wants me to play at the club.

'He wants me to have an input into the way we play and the tactics, but at the end of the day Gudjon is making the decisions and he will pick the side.'

Davis officially begins his job on Monday upon Gudjon's return from Sweden, where he was undertaking a UEFA course. With the squad still at barebones, let's hope for a few quick fire signings before the end of the month.

It's clear that he's sharing the same no-nonsense attitude of the manager. I can see the good times returning for the Alex!
