Mixed Reaction To Pope Departure

Tom Pope leaves for 150k, but what do Crewe fans make of the transfer? There's only one place to find out...

On the Vital Crewe Message Board it's brought a mixed response. Here's a quick snippet of fans thoughts:

The majority seem to be up in arms and questioning Gudjon's ability on this decision... I for one won't be bothered to see him leave. Can anybody think of two games in a row where Pope has played consistantly well - Me neither. Tomfcafc

Pope's commitment and effort is unquestionnable in my view. However, he is in a poor strikeforce and compared to the likes of Ashley Ward and Dele, other target men of the past, I don't think he is good enough, not if we want some success. Then again, are the others!

Absolute DISGRACE !!! The only player who gives 110% and we sell him to a rival League 2 side. Yeah 150k might be good money but he's the sort of player we need in League 2. crewe4life

This just beggers belief, I'd give our other strikers away right now no matter what they cost but Tom was our gem at this level - no doubt he'll be back to haunt the team. For me that's the last straw - I'll not be parting with my hard earned this season, what a disastrous move perhaps we'd have been better with a few less back room staff and held on to the family jewels. truealex
