Ince Linked With Return

Clayton Ince could be set for a return to Gresty Road this summer as rumours mount.

Ince's contract at Walsall is due to expire this summer and whilst he has been offered a new deal with the Saddlers that old stumbling block of the length of the contract could yet mean a return 'home'.

Rumours have gathered pace that Ince is seen as an ideal number one for Gudjon's new look League Two side, with some talk that Ince has paid Reaseheath Training Ground a visit recently.

Gudjon has already let go reserve keeper Stuart Tomlinson this summer and earlier this week challenged Steve Collis and rookie Adam Legzdins to make their claim for the number one shirt, but refused to rule out bringing in an extra pair of hands.

Ince left the Alex four years ago after five years between the sticks. He made over 100 appearances for the Alex, playing a huge role in our 2002-2003 promotion season as he went on to break the record for the most clean sheets held in one season.

In 2005 he left the Alex on a free after failing to get the contract he wanted. A year at Coventry saw him just make one league appearance before he signed for Walsall, where he's made over 130 appearances, breaking their clean sheet record also.

With Gudjon reportedly set to tie up the signing of Ince's Trinidad team mate Dennis Lawrence any day soon, maybe it's the last bit of convincing Ince will need? And I think you'd struggle to find a Crewe fan who wouldn't welcome him back.
