Occy Could Yet Feature In Gudjon's Side

There could yet be a big U-turn in the O'Connor and Thordarson spat with both parties offering a truce.

O'Connor has not been seen at the Alex since his infamous bust up with manager Gudjon Thordarson in February. He was immediately sent on loan to Lincoln City with O'Connor telling the Lincolnshire press he would never play for Gudjon again.

After his loan spell at Lincoln he went on to have a trial at SPL side Hibs and his departure look inevitable. However, with no further interest being shown in the Northern Irish international we could yet see him in the red of Crewe again next season.

Gudjon told The Sentinel that O'Connor will report to pre-season training next month and it's up to Occy himself to work his way back into Gudjon's plans.

'He will report for pre-season and get fit just as the others will do. If he does, there is a place in the team for him to chase and battle for. If he doesn't respond, there won't be.'

Meanwhile O'Connor's agent, Gerry Carlile, responded by telling The Sentinel that it's O'Connor's wish to put the whole saga 'behind him'.

If Gudjon is prepared to wipe the slate clean, then Michael will be extremely happy to hear this and we can all move forward. There are fall-outs in football on a daily basis and it's important not to hold grudges.

'His committment, work ethic and discipline have never been in doubt.'

I think the majority of fans would be more than happy to see O'Connor return to the line up for next season. He has potential to be one of the star players of League Two next season and if we're going to challenge for the automatic promotion spots next season then retaining him could be huge.
