After having a quick look at some of the players released at the end of the season there is some real talent and experience out there that could help our chances of bouncing back first time next season. Gudjon's going to have to get in there quick though!
Here's who Gudjon should be looking at:
Joe Jacobson
Jacobson has just been released by Bristol Rovers despite playing a big part for the Gas this season. The left back would be an ideal replacement for Billy Jones, who despite having a poor season, is rumoured to be off to pastures new over the summer. Jacobson is only 22 and has captained both the Welsh under 21 team and also the Cardiff reserve side.
Ian Breckin
The 33 year old defender would slot straight into the Alex starting 11 next season after being released by Nottingham Forest only a few days ago. Breckin has played way over 550 games and would bring some real experience like Broomes and Lawrence this season. A defender of Breckins calibre is a must in League 2.
Paul Terry
A solid midfielder that has played a fair few games over his career. Terry featured heavily for Leyton Orient this season making 71 appearances before being released. He would certainly tighten up the middle of the park although we couldn't expect too many goals for him.
Mart Poom
Poom may be a little out of our wage price range but its got to be worth a go. Even at 37 he's miles better than what we've got in net and would bring a vast amount of experience. There must be other clubs in for the former Premiership stopper but if you don't ask, you don't get.
Ryan Lowe
Okay, so he's not been released but he'll want to be off after Chester's relegation. I always thought he was good for us before he left again for Chester, even if he was a bit of a trouble maker. Who would have thought he could bag 18 goals last term for a really poor team?. A proven goal scorer at League 2 level. Worth a go?
Its early days yet but send in your own opinions and hopefully we can save on the scouting bill for the Alex. Lets get a big list going.
