Crewe To Bring In Left Back Cover

Gudjon Thordarson has confirmed that he will be bringing in a left back on loan to cover for Billy Jones's suspension.

Billy was sent off on Saturday after mouthing off to the female assistant who had wrongly given a foul against him. The straight red card means the former Exeter man now misses the next three games; MK Dons (Away), Millwall (Home) and Swindon (A), potentially our biggest three games of the season.

Despite having cover from youngsters, Gudjon wants someone more experienced to handle the pressure at this stage of the season. Confirming to crewealex.net that he had been searching all weekend, Gudjon now hopes to tie up a deal before tomorrow eveining's game at MK Dons.

'I have tried hard all weekend to bring in a left-back on loan. We are hopeful we have one and we are confident that everything will be in place for him to join us ahead of our trip to the MK Dons.

'We need someone who can come in and do a job for us in there. I have young players of my own here, but I want someone a bit more proven at this stage of the season and with the situation we find ourselves in.'

It's a good choice from Gudjon. With Dennis Lawrence now set to miss the next two games due to international duty it leaves the now dependable defence severely weakened, and now is not the time to be trying out the unproven likes of McManus and Westwood.
