Gudjon Thordarson is name League One Manager of the Month for February, beating off competition from the likes of Steve Tilson and Graham Turner.
The news was announced on Sky Sports News earlier today.
In February Gudjon led us to four wins in five, with our only defeat coming in the away trip to Orient. It was the first time the Alex had gone on a run of four straight wins since 2003.
The winning run began at Southend, managed by fellow nominee Steve Tilson. Despite being described as 'boring' by Tilson it was Billy Jones's 30 yard free kick that sealed the three points and a clean sheet.
That win was swiftly followed up by a convincing 3-1 win over play-off chasing Huddersfield Town at Gresty Road before a routine 2-0 win against relegation strugglers Yeovil Town the following Tuesday.
The Alex finished the month in style last Saturday by smashing four past a poor Brighton side. Three spectacular second half goals from Jones, Schumacher and Sigurdsson also took the Alex out of the relegation zone for the first time since September.
Despite losing the opening March fixture on Tuesday night Gudjon has still put us in the best position we've been in all season. When Steve Holland left his post as manager we were 11 points from safety and now, three months on, we sit one point above the relegation zone with a serious chance of survival.
So well done to Gudjon, a much deserved reward. Here's to a few more wins and League One safety before May!
