Occy To Be Shown The Door?

Reports suggest that Michael O'Connor could be set to leave the club on loan.

The Irish midfielder was left out of Gudjon's side that beat Brighton on Saturday due to disciplinary reasons. Rumours suggest that a bust up between O'Connor and Marlon Broomes on the club coach during the trip down south was behind it all.

It's not the first time O'Connor and Gudjon have come to blows with Occy unable to get into the Iceman's side when Thordarson first arrived. Back then Thordarson put it down to lack of commitment from the 21 year old.

It now looks like Thordarson has seen enough and will let O'Connor leave the club on loan if there's a willing taker.

Having been one of the more impressive players in the first half of the season it's unlikely there won't be a small queue of club willing to take Occy.

The whole scenario seems very familar. Gary Roberts was pretty much chucked out of the club last summer after a whole host of disciplinary issues despite, like O'Connor, being a driving force in the Alex midfield.

From a fans point of view it seems a whole lot of wasted talent. Roberts, with the right attitude, could have possibly gone on to make us half a million at some point, and it's a similar feeling with O'Connor, who is arguably the more promising talent of the two.

It looks increasingly unlikely that Gudjon & O'Connor will kiss and make up and that Occy will go for a snip of what he could one day be worth.

I suppose Gudjon will be hoping to save the team spirit which could keep us in this division - which is probably more important than keeping O'Connor happy.
