Gudjon: Manager of the Month - Extend his deal now

With Gudjon looking set to be named as the League One Manager of the Month for February it`s only a matter of time before other clubs recognise his talents and start sniffing around our prized asset. By truealex

Let`s face it he is our best chance going forward.

Yes the results under him have been magnificent but the reason that we need to sign him on a more permanent basis was clear to be seen after just a few matches in charge.

In the stands we've bemoaned the fragile defending and poor goalkeeping performances for several years now and no action has been taken. Within a matter of weeks of Gudjon's arrival we had a solid centre half with a no nonsense approach to defending and a proper keeper brimming with confidence between the sticks. Suddenly the whole backline looks solid.

He has dealt firmly with indiscipline and no one in the team can have any doubt who is in charge.

He's given players a chance. Just take a look at Pope's emergence. In the stands we've been calling for him to get a regular place all season, only now has he been elevated to first forward name on the teamsheet under Gudjon.

Gone are the negative tactics of keeping what we have. On Saturday at 3-0 and with minutes to go he was still encouraging Byron to get at their full back - result goal number four.

In summary, we have a manager that knows the game, is tactically astute and gets the best out of the team, knows what it takes to get out of this division (the right way), has the respect of his players and importantly the paying public.

The club has been on the slide for the best part of four years, ever since we sold Aston when on the fringe of the Premiership play offs at the turn of the year. This is the man to halt the slide and get us back where we need to be.

Come on Board get him signed up on a 3 year extension with a performance related deal that rewards him on results and ultimately on promotion back to the Championship, and yes even a percentage of the fees from sell on of players to keep the production line going - give him a real stake in our success.

It would be the best money we've spent in years. Flash the cash now before he's gone to pastures new. We simply can't afford to leave it to the end of the season as other clubs will undoubtedly be talking to him well before then.

Don't dally as we have in the past, act now for the good of the club.
