Pope & Zola Out Of Brighton Clash

Top scorer Tom Pope will sit out of today's big game at Brighton after twisting his ankle in training. It's a double blow for the Alex with news that Calvin Zola is also out with a groin strain.

The news leaves Gudjon pretty bare up front with no other real target man available for selection. It could mean a recall for Shaun Miller, who hasn't played any part in the current three match winning streak.

Looking ahead, if injury problems continue Thordarson may also opt to use the 24 hour recall clause to bring Anthony Elding back from his loan spell at Lincoln. The former Stockport striker has failed to impress at Sincil Bank but his services may be required if Pope or Zola fail to recover in sufficient time.

We've already seen defender Dennis Lawrence ruled out of today's game, and indeed the next four weeks, after he suffered a broken cheekbone during Tuesday's match against Yeovil.
