Rix Leaves

Ben Rix has left Crewe Alexandra after he mutually terminates his contract.

The 25 year old midfielder leaves after seven years as a professional with the club since coming through the academy.

In his time at the club Rix made over 150 appearances in a red shirt as well as having loan spells at Bournemouth and Scarborough. Recent years have also seen Rix come under fire from fans, many of whom didn't feel he was good enough at this level.

Making only seven appearances this season Rix has found it increasingly hard to break into the team and with new manager Gudjon Thordarson ringing the changes both player and club agreed to separate.

Club Chairman John Bowler spoke to crewealex.net about Rix's departure: "He has been a fine servant for the Football Club. He hasn't been able to establish himself in the first-team as much as he would have liked and now feels he needs a fresh challenge elsewhere.

"I would like to thank Ben for his long service and wish him every success with his career. He will always been welcome here at Crewe Alexandra."

Vital Crewe would like to wish Rix all the best for his future.
