Crewe Stay In Touch With Safety

Even with half a season left you can't help the keep an eye on results for those teams around us.

Tonight Leyton Orient failed to lengthen the gap between ourselves and safety to five points, though they must feel slightly gutted for it. As early as the 11th minute it looked as though the three points were heading in Orient's direction.

A Adam Boyd goal from a Jason Demetriou cross put the O's in an early lead. It remained that way till deep into stoppage time at the end of the match when, with pretty much the last kick of the game, Southend's James Walker fired home the equaliser.

The 1-1 draw means the gap remains four points and with ourselves now having two games in hand over Orient, one of those of course coming against Southend.

Having closed the gap from 11 points to four in recent weeks it now looks as though a win at Northampton, who have won once in their last five home outings, on Saturday will take us off the bottom of the table - as long as either Hereford or Cheltenham fail to win.
