Gudjon Unhappy At Postponement

Manager Gudjon Thordarson is unhappy after the Southend game is postponed more than 24 hours before kick off.

The weather was always likely to claim a few matches, with the match against Bristol Rovers at Gresty Road on Tuesday being one of many Football League matches to be called off this week.

With temperatures steadily rising towards the end of this week, tomorrow's game at Southend United was far from a certainty to be called off.

However, this morning the Shrimpers called in Football League referee Fred Graham for a pitch inspection, after which a postponement was granted.

Alex boss Thordarson, who is yet to manage the Alex in a League fixture, says the inspection took place too early for his liking.

Speaking to BBC Radio Stoke he said: 'I want this game to take place and I want to start collecting points. Maybe they are more focussed on playing Chelsea in the FA Cup on Tuesday night than playing us.

'I think the pitch inspection should have taken place later in the afternoon. It should have taken place at three o'clock. We saw here the other day that there was a huge difference when the sun came out.'

Both clubs will now face FA Cup replays next week. We play Millwall at Gresty Road on Tuesday whilst Southend welcome Chelsea after a hard earned draw at Stamford Bridge. Let's see them be as keen to get that game off.
