Playing Catch-Up: Another Point Notched Up
Crewe gained a respectable point at Millwall today, handing the new Alex manager a 7 point gap to overcome to remain in League One.
An appointment is now imminent with many media sources saying that Sunday will be D-Day and with an official announcement to be made early in the week.
Which potential candidates could have been watching on at The New Den today is still unknown, but BBC Radio Stoke remain adamant that the job will go to one of John Ward or Gudjon Thordarson.
Dario Gradi meanwhile would probably have wished for a more exciting result to sign out on (for the second time). However, very few in Crewe will be complaining about today's 0-0 bore draw. WIth Millwall heading into 2009 looking good to challenge the automatic promotion spots, anything we came away with can indeed be looked upon as a 'bonus'.
With many teams directly above us losing it closes the gap to safety further to just (!) seven points. Whilst far from a 'comfortable' gap for the new manager to arrive with,it is some improvement on the 11 point gap we faced just two weeks ago.
