Striker Tom Pope could decide to leave the club this week after admitting that his new contract offer isn't up to scratch.
The former Biddulph Vics star has had a frustrating season up to now, failing to hold down a first team spot despite being the club's top scorer.
A fan favourite, Pope feels he's earnt his place in the side along with a bigger contract. With his current deal set to expire in June it looks like Steve Holland isn't exactly desperate to keep his goal scorer.
Speaking to The Sentinel, Pope admitted he's frustrated with life at the club at the moment but wouldn't like talks with Holland this week to signal the end of his career at Gresty Road.
"I have been on contracts where I haven`t earned as much as I should. Now I have to start thinking about myself. I don`t want to [leave] but depending on what gets sorted out this week, it might come to that.
"I am frustrated. I feel I have been doing alright but I`ve not been playing. But knocking on the manager`s door and shouting and bawling won`t help my cause.'
'The fans have been great with me and it is nice. They are a really great bunch when they are behind you and we just want to get them on our side and give them something postitive to shout about again.'
Yesterday Pope netted two in a massive 8-1 friendly win over Macclesfield Town.
