Holland Hopeful On Loan Deal

Steve Holland is looking to tie up a loan deal for at least one new player this week. The first team coach promised new faces following the Ebbsfleet game on Saturday and today says progress has been made on a couple of targets.

It's thought that a couple of weeks ago a move for Doncaster's midfielder John Spicer, a player who has previously turned down a move to Gresty Road, fell through at the last minute after Donny ran into some injury problems.

Now though Holland has new targets in sight to help bolster the team's dreadful midfield and defence.

Holland told crewealex.net that he's making progress but nothing is imminent: 'We do recognise that the team needs improving in one or two areas. We have made progress on one or two but at this stage of the week we have nothing concrete to report.

'We are not all at sea and we don't think the team is too far becoming a team capable of picking up more wins. We do recognise though that one or two in key areas will improve us and help us do that.

'We don't want to be bringing players in for the sake of it, we want players in who will make a difference to us.'
