Crewe Look To Ship Out Rix

Ben Rix has asked to be allowed to go out on loan after failing to hold down a first team spot at Gresty Road.

The midfielder, who isn't exactly a fan favourite, has made three starts this season and one appearance from the bench. However, with Steve Holland's best midfielders now fit it looks like Rix will be struggling to get games this season.

The 24 year old, who has previously had spells at Bournemouth and Scarborough, has asked Steve Holland for a spell away from the club to get games under his belt, with less than 12 months remaining on his current contract.

With Michael O'Connor, James Bailey, Steven Schumacher and Mark Carrington all in with a shout of a starting place at the club, Holland reluctantly agreed it was best for Rix.

Holland told crewealex.net: 'I'm more than happy for Ben to stay here but I also understand that he wants to play. He is in the last year of his contract here and his chances have become limited in the centre due to the form of Michael O'Connor and James Bailey.'

Is he worth having? Sounds like he's not very popular with the fans
Red Wimp
He's not as bad as our fans make out but then he's nothing special neither. Bit too lightweight for this level, but maybe could do well in L2 with a bigger, tougher MC next to him.
