'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Team To Get Ticking Off

Steve Holland says the entire team will have a talk after Elding's strop on Saturday. The former Stockport County striker left in a sulk when subsituted in the 70th minute against Colchester. Throwing his arm back towards a sympathetic Joel Grant, Elding proceeded to snatch his training top from the hands of Andy Franks, the fitness coach.

It caused a little debate of when passion becomes too much passion, but Steve Holland says that his players should leave the field in an appropriate way, no matter how passionate about the game they are.

Speaking to crewealex.net and thisisstaffordshire.co.uk, Holland said: 'When situations occur in matches, a player can sometimes get caught up in the emotion of it all. We all like to see that emotion and passion for the game, but there is a way to come off.

'We have talked to the entire squad about it because it is a team game and the players have to buy into that. It is something we will go over again.'

'It will sort itself out. There will be times when one or two of them will be at the top of their game and the others have to miss out, but they will all get enough chances.'

Despite Elding's obvious disappointment with the substitution, his replacement Pope went on to score within two minutes of coming on, putting in a good performance, as the Alex eventually strolled to a 2-0 win over Colchester.
