The first goal really shook us
Colchester boss Geraint Williams admits that Michael O'Connor's goal seconds into the second half knocked his team.
Despite a fairly decent first 45 minutes from Colchester, they showed nothing of the sort in the second half after Occy opened the scoring on the 46th minute.
It's something Williams picked up on as he rues two 'soft goals'.
Speaking to eveningstar.co.uk, Williams said: "Our game slowly fell away, and the first goal really shook us,"
"You need the self-belief to keep going after conceding a goal. You can't stop some sublime skill for some goals, but we didn't make Crewe work hard enough for their two.
"We should have defended the free-kick better for the first goal. I'm not blaming Dean Gerken and I'm not criticising individuals, but rather the team as a whole.'
Soft goals. Poor defending. Not making the opposition work hard enough. Heh, good jobs there's none of that with us.
