Donaldson Finally Completes Move

Clayton Donaldson has finally completed his move to Crewe Alexandra in a move which has been rumoured since January.

The 24 year old striker has signed terms on a 3 year deal for a fee of around the £100,000 mark.

Donaldson started his professional career at Hull City in 2002, where he spent most of his time on loan with teams such as Harrogate Town, Scarborough and Halifax Town. He did make 3 first team appearances for Hull before being released by manager Peter Taylor as he could not guarantee him first team football.

After being released Clayton moved to York City where he became a fans favourite scoring 16 times in his first season. While at York he made 86 appearances in total, netting 42 times before moving to Scottish Premier side Hibernian at the end of the 06/07 season.

While at the Hibees Donaldson made 21 appearances and scored 6 goals, which included a hat-trick against Kilmarnock. Since the arrival of new Hibs manager Mixu Paatelainen Donaldson has been frozen out of the team and has found chances to play limited.

Manager Steve Holland see`s Donaldson as the perfect player to replace Nicky Maynard after his £2.25m move to Bristol City stating the Donaldson will add some much needed pace to the Alex attack.

Donaldson is the second signing of the week with left back Scott McManus signing a 2 year deal with the club yesterday.

Fans will also be looking for more action from Holland and the club by the end of the transfer window with the team lacking in good defenders and midfielders.
