'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Alex Snippets 18/8/2008

CREWE ALEXANDRA have agreed an undisclosed fee for goalkeeper Owain Fon Williams. The 21 year old left the club for Stockport this summer having never played a competitive match for the Alex's first team.

Crewe and Stockport came to the agreement to avoid the dreaded tribunal.

CLAYTON DONALDSON is due to put pen to paper on his contract at Crewe Alex tomorrow. The HIbs striker has agreed personal terms and will head South in a six figure deal. The former York hit man has been lined up as a replacement for the departed Nicky Maynard and Steve Holland says he's a quick player who will provide something different.

Speaking to CreweAlex.net: 'He is going to be the quick one, who will run in behind and will give us something different to what we have already managed to bring into the club this summer.'

-----

MICHAEL O'CONNOR has been named in the Northern Ireland squad to face Scotland on Wednesday. It's the young midfielder's second call up to the senior squad after making his debut earlier in the year.

The full squad:

Goalkeepers: M Taylor (Birmingham City), A Mannus (Linfield).

efenders: C Baird (Fulham), S Craigan (Motherwell), R McGivern (Manchester City), G McAuley (Ipswich Town), J Evans (Manchester United), M Duff (Burnley). Midfielders: S Davis (Fulham), M O'Connor (Crewe Alexandra), S Clingan (Norwich City), C Brunt (West Bromwich Albion), D Shiels (Hibernian). Forwards: D Healy (Fulham), P Thompson (Stockport County), W Feeney (Cardiff City, on loan at Dundee United); M Paterson (Scunthorpe United).
