Crewe Draw Bristol City In The Carling Cup

Crewe are draw against Bristol City at home in the Carling Cup.

It gives Crewe fans another chance to see Maynard in action at Gresty Road although this time we'll be rooting for him to miss the target.

Not only will this mean a return for Maynard but also former fans favourite Dele Adebola.

The games are due to take place week commencing August the 25th and is most likely to be played on Tuesday the 26th.

City manager Gary Johnson has already given his early reaction to the fixture to bcfc.co.uk "I was speaking to Nicky as the results came in on Tuesday and he said 'I reckon we'll get Crewe away'. It's strange because cup competitions often bring up these sorts of stories and Nicky's return to Crewe is certainly the headline in this tie. Nicky served Crewe well over the years and never asked to leave, so I'm sure he'll get a good reception up there"

"They've already shown they are capable of producing an upset against a Championship side so when we go there we have to be ready for them, and we will be. They will be similar to Peterborough because they are a good footballing team and it's a game to look forward to."
