'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Alex Snippets 25/07/2008

CREWE ALEXANDRA released their eagerly awaited kit this afternoon. Made by Lotto Sport and modeled by new signing Joel Grant, the red and white has taken a much smoother look for the new season. With two slashes of white and a extra large crest, it certainly looks better than the three recent Diadora efforts.

The kit will be on sale on July 31st for an arm and a leg (£38.99). The team will wear it for tomorrow's friendly game at home to Hull City.

You can see it here on the official club website.

YESTERDAY Colchester United's new signing Akanni-Sunday Wasi claimed to have turned down a move to Crewe in order to sign for the U's. However, it seems the Nigerian was never a target for Steve Holland and is now just one of many players to use the Alex to further impress his new fans.

Neil Baker told the official site that the story is rubbish and it was the club who turned Sunday down, not the other way round.

Baker said: 'Once again, I think it is important that our supporters realise that just because a player openly talks about an offer doesn't actually mean there is one. This is certainly the case with this lad.

'His agent did contact us in the summer and asked if he could come up for a trial. We told him there and then that we had targets in mind and our own strikers here, so that we wouldn't be interested.

'How that gets interpreted as an offer is anyone's guess.'

RYAN ELDERTON is a target for Steve Holland, according to The Citizen in Lancaster. The Barrow centre back is being watched by the club this summer says the newspaper. The former 24 year old helped Barrow to the Blue Square North title last season.
