Crewe Hold Out For 2.5m For Maynard

Crewe have supposedly told Ipswich Town to cough up 2.5million if they want Nicky Maynard.

Ipswich gaffer Jim Magilton was reported to have offered 1.75million in a bid to capture Maynard but that was immediately snubbed - with the Alex telling him to add another 750k before it's considered.

Maynard is in high demand this summer after a impressive 15 goals last season, despite breaking his leg on the opening day of the season. The 21 year old has received interest from a host of Premiership and Championship clubs but at the moment Ipswich are the one team stepping up the chase.

Whilst Ipswich have yet to match the asking price, if their 2.5million move for Greek international Angelos Charisteas breaks down then we may finally see an acceptable offer.
