£1.5million To Make Maynard A Tractorboy?

Nicky Maynard is reportedly the subject of a £1.5million bid from Ipswich Town. The 20 year old striker has gathered a lot of interest after two goal-packed first season in professional football.

It seems inevitable that Maynard will be off at some point within the next 6/7 months having been linked with the likes of Middlesbrough, West Brom and Stoke City recently. With 35 goals in just 57 starts since making his debut in 2006, Nicky has become a vital member of the Alex squad - arguably saving us from relegation to League Two last season.

First team coach Steve Holland recently told the press that he's determined to keep hold of Nicky, saying: 'Hopefully we will be able to keep Nicky here and we are determined to do that.'

However, a bid over £1.5million is likely to be enough for the club to sell.

Well has a great goal-scoring record, no surprise so many clubs are keen.

£1.5 million is a small amount of cash if it means you will be in danger of going back down to the bottom flight after all these years.

So many clubs are reported to be interested. Make sure you hold out for the maximum price.

Try telling this club that!
