Baggies Not Ready To Bag Maynard

West Brom have denied they are set to sign Nicky Maynard. The newly promoted Premiership club had been linked alongside Middlesbrough and Stoke City for the 20 year old in recent months.

Maynard has caught the attention of most with his goal scoring ability - hitting 35 in just 57 starts for Crewe, and is still yet to complete a full season at professional level.

West Brom however claim that Maynard isn't even on manager Tony Mowbray's wish list for this summer.

It'll fail to ease fans fears that Nicky will be off. Stoke and Middlesbrough are still keeping a close eye on things, as are a host of Championship clubs.

Steve Holland said this week that he is determined to keep the star striker at the club, but fans remain skeptical having heard it all before over the likes of Luke Varney and Dean Ashton.

Holland told superalex.co.uk: 'Hopefully we will be able to keep Nicky here and we are determined to do that,

'We've had no contact with anyone at Middlesbrough at this stage.'
