Collis To Solve Keeper Problems?
Steve Holland has turned his attentions to Steve Collis in his hopes to bolster his goalkeeping options.
The Alex currently only two young keepers on the books in Stuart Tomlinson - who's also injured for the next 5 months - and new signing Adam Legzdins. Neither have been lined up to take the number one shirt next season, instead Holland is hoping a experienced keeper will take that spot.
We've already seen snubs from Greg Fleming and Steve Mildenhall, who chose to sign for Oldham and Southend respectively, this summer and so the search goes on.
Collis is just the latest name in the frame for the number one spot after the former Southend man revealed Crewe's interest, and also admitted his interest in Crewe!
Collis said: 'I've spoken to my agent and I think Crewe are interested, but then so are eight other clubs. Obviously, Crewe would be something I'd be interested in.'
The 27 year old is a free agent having been released by Southend recently and despite his age hasn't played too many games. Having played for seven clubs, including Yeovil, Barnet and Nott'm Forest, Collis has only made 70 first team starts over the past nine years.
His release from Southend raised some eyebrows, with the Southend faithful slightly surprised after Collis impressed in his 26 appearances last season.
