Crewe Step Up Morison Chase

Crewe have turned their attentions to long-term target Steve Morison at Stevenage Borough. The former Northampton striker has been heavily linked with the Alex since January and reports suggest that Steve Holland could firm up his interest this week.

Holland already looks to have secured Calvin Zola from Tranmere, pending a work permit, and now wants to strengthen his strike force even further in the knowledge that Nicky Maynard may go any day.

Morison seems a perfect choice who has proven himself at Conference level over the past couple of seasons. Last season he scored 22 goals as Stevenage narrowly missed out on the play-offs. However, after two years at Borough, Morison handed in a transfer request last month and his name was circulated round League One and Championship clubs.

Quite a high fee will be wanted by Stevenage but with only a year on his contract and him wanting out, the situation may force Stevenage's hand.

The Alex have also been reported to speaking to Yeovil's goalkeeper Steve Mildenhall, Livingston's Winger Robert Snodgrass and Bournemouth's defender Shaun Cooper in recent weeks.

to score so many goals at conference level he must be a half decent striker. i think it depends on how much they want for him and also offer enough wages per week so meet his demands.
