Preston Lined Up For Pre-Season Clash

Billy 'Half Pace' Jones will return to Gresty Road this summer when Preston North End visit for a pre-season game. Alan Irvine's side will be at Gresty Road on Saturday August 2nd with a 3:00pm kick off.

The game, a week before the new season starts, looks likely to be the final 'first team' friendly of the summer as the Alex prepare for what will hopefully be a better campaign than that of last season.

The game will have slight interest as likely to line up in the PNE defence will be Billy Jones, who left the Alex last summer after refusing a new contract. He later claimed he needed a change of club because at Crewe you can get away with playing at half pace.

A friendly at home to Hull City on 26th July is also expected to be confirmed once Hull City boss Phil Brown returns from Holiday.

The pre-season fixtures confirmed so far are...

Sunday 6th July to Friday 11th July: Bulgaria
Tuesday 15th July: Quorn and Biddulph Victoria (Away)
Tuesday 22nd July: Wrexham (Away)
Saturday 2nd August: Preston North End (Home) 3:00pm
Monday 4th August: Nantwich Town (Away) 7:45pm
